Q: Hey sal this is an awesome website. You havent answered any of my other questions but can you please please please answer this one.How do you make things into "certs"?I really need to know. Please answer!!!!

A: Certs are only available in RuneScape Classic. When you had enough of an item you would speak to one of the certificate merchants in Draynor Village to have them exchanged for certs. Certs have been replaced with Bank Notes in RuneScape.

A: You most likely saw the person carrying what is known as a Granite Maul. You can only get 1 from Gargoyles and Nechryaels, both Slayer monsters (or from trading another player).

A: Dragon Scimitars can be bought from Daga's Scimitar Shop located on Ape Atoll. Abyssal Whips and Granite Mauls are both dropped by Slayer monsters. You can get an Abyssal Whip from an Abyssal Demon, and a Granite maul from either Gargoyles or Nechryaels.

A: If there's an "X" in the top corner, it means that your Java is not working (or isn't installed). You should go to the Java website and get the download for your computer. After installing it, restart your computer and RuneScape should now load.

A: you can check your stat points from the stat menu in RuneScape. It's at the bottom of the menu and should tell you how many points you currently have.

A: An autominer is a program that supposedly mines for you. You would set it up on your computer, tell it what ores to mine and it would "auto-magically" mine for you. Some claim to power mine, others deposit the ores in your bank. Most are fake, however and are almost always backdoor trojans that will keylog your computer and steal your account (along with anything else of importance). I strongly suggest NOT to download it.

A: No, the only way that you could Get a holiday item would be from the actual drop on that day. Monsters would not drop them, they would instead appear on the ground. The only way to get 1 of those items now would be to buy them from another player.

Q: Ok, a jagex member asked me to give me my password to see if I cursed at all because someone supposply reported me. I didnt curse, but if he said if i did give him my password, he would ban me. I told him that i did not see a crown by his name so i wasnt going to tell him my pass. He said he was a new jagex member and did not recieve his crown. His name is Rs7 account. Should i tell him my password?

A: No, you shouldn't give him your password. Jagex will not ask for your password EVER! They only contact you from your message center, for one thing. Since they didn't have a crown next to their name, they obviously weren't a moderator, so don't even pay attention to him (in fact, you should have reported him).

A: Yes, Treasure Trails are members only. The reason you can't bring any armor to Entrana is because the monks are peaceful, and they don't want any fighting going on in their island. :-)

Q: Hi i am a big fan of your website and runescape.Anyway i have a question about navigating with a sextant.I cant figure out how the degrees works. Can u tell me how it works?(Sorry i made this so long.)

A: Well first you need to click on the sextant. Use the up and down arrows first to get the horizon in the center of it, and then use the left and right arrows to move the sun into other middle. Then click on the "get location" button to get your current position in degrees and minutes. If the clue has an east direction, you'll need to go east. It should have a number like 2 or 4, and depending on how far south or east you are, you'll need to go further east or west. The same goes for the north or south coordinate.

A: Wilderness levels just mean that certain level players can attack you. For instance, if you were level 50 and in level 3 Wilderness, player ranging from 47-53 could attack you. If you were in level 20 Wilderness player from levels 30-70 could attack you. It mostly just tells you what range of players can attack you.

1) Yes, the Makeover Mage located in a small house north of the Crafting Guild may be able to help you with changing your skin color.
2) It actually does this to anyone who hasn't clicked or taken any action in the game for 60 seconds. If you leave the game or don't do anything for awhile, you'll get logged out. It's always been like that in RuneScape to prevent the servers from getting full.

A: Well, Player Owned houses were announced by Jagex quite awhile ago. First they were announced in RSC, but they stopped working on the idea. They had a list of planned updates for RuneScape, and in there was Player Owned Houses. I'm almost certain that you can still find it in the News & Updates part of the RuneScape site.

A: Charcoal is used in the Legends quest, and it has no other use. It's not rare, as you can just use coal with a fire to make it. Or, you could buy it from a shop north of Tai Bwo Wannai.

A: No, there isn't a Halberd shop in Mort'ton, but there happens to be one in Isafdar, located in west RuneScape. Before you can access the area you need to complete the Regicide quest.

A: You can get steel gauntlets from completion of the Family Crest Quest. Those gauntlets can be enchanted into 1 of 3 different kinds (check the guide for more info). Steel Boots can be obtained from some of the new Slayer monsters such as Basilisks and Pyrefiends, as well as the new Dragons.

A: You can find Maple Trees near the Seer's village, and along the road to Rellekka. Members can cut them, but there are currently no Maple Trees in free-play RuneScape. Most likely, the reason for the logs not showing up as members only logs is that they can still be TRADED on free-play, but there aren't any trees on free-play yet.

1. It's difficult to raise your levels because if it was easy, everyone would be level 99 in each skill and there wouldn't be much of a reason to keep playing.
2. Jagex uses the money from Members to pay for new servers and to keep the game running. That's their main source of money so that they can pay for the costs of running a game like RuneScape.
3. No, the customer support will read through your report and make sure that what you're saying is true. Depending on what the player has done, they may just get a warning (or they could be banned if it's a serious offence).

A: That's actually the special attack for the Magic Bow. Different weapons including Dragon Weapons, Magic Bows, Rune Thrown Axes and Excalibur each have their own special attack which can be accessed in the Combat Style menu for the item.

1) Currently there aren't any player owned houses for sale in RuneScape, but Jagex has been planning them for sometime in 2005.
2) No, holiday items don't give any bonuses in RuneScape, although Santa Hats used to add 3 to magic in RSC.
3) Members can be turned into Sheep, Imps and Bunnies during Castle Wars. If you wear a piece of god armor, clothing or a symbol and walk into another God's portal, you'll be turned into an animal (Imp=Zamorak, Bunny=Saradomin, Sheep=Guthix).
4)... :-)

A:
1) I can't exactly tell you want you were banned for, but if it was a scam site that she went to, it most likely wasn't the reason (as Jagex isn't affiliated with any). If she can, she should try logging into her account on the RuneScape site and checking her Message box, which should contain a message about what happened. She can also send in a ban appeal from the support center after that.
2) I would say that if you're trying to train quickly, try fighting something easy like Goblins at first. they're relatively easy and give decent xp for beginners. After that you should work on cooking and fishing, and use the food while fighting stronger enemies.
3) There isn't much I can tell you here, just try showing that you're responsible, or try and compromise with them about the game.

A: You can buy a Moonlight Mead from the Hair of the Dog Tavern in Canifis for 5gp, and it heals about 4 hits. It doesn't turn you into a Werewolf, however...

1) Yes, there is actually fully Gilded armor now, made completely out of gold. It's a reward from the Treasure Trails, and it gives the same armor bonuses as regular Rune armor.
2) No, free-players can wear the armor, but Members are the only ones who can get it from the Treasure Trails.
3) Sure you can! I'm actually working on a link exchange system for the site so that both sites can link to each other.

A: Yes it's true that the God armors are all equal in stats. The reason that they're worth different amounts is due to their rarity in obtaining them. A more rare item (like Zamorak armor) is worth more than a less rare item (like Guthix armor).

1) Amulets of glory range from 90k to around 105k, depending on the seller.
2) If you have the cash to buy trimmed armor, it may be a good way to show that you have the money to buy it. Just remember, they don't offer any extra bonuses compared to armor of that metal without trimming.

A: Well, it all started out as a small website that i designed using a free webpage builder, and after awhile I realized that I could do a better job by using HTML. Keeping up the website is a lot of work, but I enjoy it. Some website have a staff (mulitple people working on different things) to make things easier, but I'm the only 1 who runs this site.

Q: people sometimes sell disk of returning for 1.2mil...what does the disk even do?
A: The Disk of Returning used to be given to you from a Dwarf down in the Dwarven Mines before you climbed down a ladder which lead to the "Black Hole." You would be unable to move or see anything other than blackness, and the only way out would be to 'use' the disk to be teleported out. Malicious RuneScapers would be placed down there by Jagex as punishment, but anyone could journey down there. It was later removed from the game, and now the disk serves no purpous.

A: The skull above a player's head means that they've attacked another player in the Wilderness (made the first hit), and if they happen to die while it's above them, then they will lose all of their equipment. You need to wait 20 minutes for the skull to wear off.

A: Currently you can't build a house in RuneScape, but it's a future plan by Jagex that a new skill called "Carpentry" will be released... Whether this means that you will be able to build houses or make furniture and such things, it's unknown. I'm also not sure if the skill will be like Runecrafting, giving a part of the skill to Free-Players, and the entire skill to Members or not.

A: If you're looking for higher defense, I'd stay with regular Rune armor. Black Trimmed/Gilded is just the same as regular Black armor, Trimmed Rune is the same as regular Rune. God Armor also has the same stats as regular Rune Armor.

A: If you're getting a popup but not finding anything with your virus scanner, you may have spyware on your computer. First, visit the Security Guide on the site and download 1 of the anti-spyware programs listed in the "How not to Get Them" section. I recommend Spybot S&D. Get all of the updates and then scan your system, removing anything that it may find (unless you know that it isn't bad). After that, use the free online scan by Trend Micro (also listed in the guide). Hopefully this helps!

A: There was a glitch allowing players to leave the Castle Wars Arena as an animal, which originally was not intended (I can't really discuss the bug, it's against the Jagex T&C). You're able to become an animal by going through a God's portal with another God's armor on, but people can't walk around as one outside of the Arena now.

A: Well, technically it is possible to do, although it isn't 'legal' to do either of the 2 above things. Of course, what you should do and what you're going to do are 2 separate things, and lotso f people do this (disclaimer: I'm in no way either condoning or in agreeance with the 2 actions discussed above). ;-)

A: Yes, you'll still have all of your items and stats after your membership expires. But, if you have more than the Free-Play allotment of items in your bank, you will be unable to deosite anymore. You still have everything, but you'll need to make more room in order to put stuff in there again.

Knil - Having trouble getting blurite without getting slaughtered in the process? Well you're in luck. Just to the left of the blurite rocks, there are a few stalagmites. If you hide behind them, the Ice Warriors can't get to you. Simply run behind them, wait until the coast is clear, and you've got your blurite ore.
Kain88 - Dragon Slayer is not as hard as it sounds...Heres sum tips. Only train on creatures and not the varrock dummies, otherwise ur hitpoints will not increase as they would automatically with attacking monsters. When attacking Elvarg (the dragon)Bring with u at least 12 swordfish (depending on ur lvl). When i was attempting the quest... my lvls where as follows: attack: 42 str: approx 44 def: 40 and hp: 43. When fighting the dragon, use a rune scimitar as its the fastest decent weapon, and only use strength attacks. Any furthur questions..add me and ill see if i can give u a hand...great site Sal..

Geoffrey842 - When doing the Knights sword quest you don't have to stop with one blurite sword. If u make the sword, don't turn it in. Talk to Thurgo once again and he'll ask u for the materials. You don't have to drop anything and hope ur sword doesn't disapear, just keep gettin materials and makin swords. I already have 11 (backup) and completed the quest.
Ballistic222 - in fight arena quest if you are a low level it is easy to win. all you have to do is get a haliberd. it reaches across thigs and hits the player/NPC. just stand behind a pile of bones and hit the character. it may be hard to get a haliberd but once you got it you will thank your self and the person you got it from.
VeXati0n - Plague City Quest - Chocolate Bars and a Bucket of milk can be purchased at the Grand Tree - go to the eatery, not the food store. Why go all the way to port sarim?
Asphodelle - For the Knight's Sword Quest, just bring some food and make a mad dash for it. There's no need to actually kill the Ice Giants/Warriors. I think turning off auto-retaliate also helps.
Kazanak - In the Knight's Sword Quest, when looking for the Blurite Ore, I had a mad idea. You take off all your armor and weapons and everything you have on you except for your pickaxe. If you make a mad dash for the ore, and successfully mine it, even if you die, you will still have your pickaxe and your blurite with you.
Jon - Elvrag the dragon is actually quite easy to slay. all you need is some mithril (use adamantite if your defence or hp is lower than 50) armor, 45-50atk, around 50 strength,45-50 defence and 50hp. if your strength is low bring 1or 2 strength potions. also remember to bring a huge stack of food (I recommend at least 20 lobs to be safe) and a RUNE wepon (NEVER bring rune 2 hander unless you want to be toast brcause u still need to wear teh dragonfire shield) when u start attacking the dragon drink a strenght potion if you have 1. he cant hit more than 15 on people with 40 defence so hes not very hard. when u lose 40% of ur hp eat 1 or 2 lobs(depending on your hp). remember, dont panic!!! just stay cool and you will emerge victorious.
Mr. D.e.ath - when collecting Blurite for the dwarf south of Falador, put all your items in the bank before going down the cave, i made the mistake and kept items on me, i got into where the ice warriors are, they are tough!!.. and they killed me in one hit..
Canada_eh895 - To get Blurite Ore, just walk very slowly and take small steps and the Ice people will not try to harm you as often.
Michael - When getting the Blurite for the knight's sword quest, i found it eaiser if i only carried 1 item, my pickaxe with me. Then You just run to the back and start mining. If You get the blurite and die, because you only had one item the blurite will stay with you. (If you only want 1 blurite u can use a piece of armor also)
Cheese3422 - Oy if u buy woad leaves for 20 gold you get 2 woad leaves instead of 1. You save 10 gold from doing that..
Stevo455 - when you complete the "shield of arrav" quest, a great way to get low level clues is to go kill thieves inside the gang hideout, i did about 12 clues in 4-5hours
Grogrim - do the knights sword quest!!!! It got my smithing level from 24 to 33. When Thurgo asks u to find a pic of the sword. Get the Bluerite first! It saves loadsa time. It is in the back of the ice room in the dungeon near Thurgo's house. watch out for ice giants and warriors!!

on the knights sword quest get two Bluerite swords. get 2 Bluerite ore and 4 iron bars. when Thurgo has made u the sword drop it quickly and get him to make another. pick up the sword on the floor and u will have 2. when u talk to the squire at the end u MUST drop one on the floor and complete the quest quickly or he will take both!!! (do NOT put it in the bank cos it will disappear!!)
Lord Guzman - How easy it is to kill a dragon by ranging first get some throwing knives and then put some poison on them. Next get arrows and dip them in poison it'll be much faster and quicker to kill a dragon.

Money-Making Tips

Justrkomore - A good way to make money is to make strength potions. To do this bring a sharp weapon with you to Varrock sewers. Run through the entire sewer until reaching a web. Slash it open and run south then west until you reach some deadly red spiders. Take their eggs. Now give the eggs and 5gp to the apothecary to make a strength potion. Then sell them to high leveled pkers.

Rouge Menace - Hey Sal, you may remember me from such forums as, YOURS! Anyways I have two money making tips to do with theiving.
1. At 20 theiving, steal silk in ardougne and put them in the bank. Later you can sell them somewhere, like varrock or if you avoid the stall for a bit, Ardougne.
2. At 35 theiving steal fur at the fur stall in Ardougne. Then sell them to that guy in varrock that buys them.

The bones sell for 3k each and they can drop rune meds i think high alched for 18k and they can drop level 3 clues, steel stuff, herbs ect. You can make alot this way. In Taverley you can hide behinds like mushrooms and the east corner of the heros guild dragon cage is the only place the dragon cant get to.

Evil Person 8 - A really great way to make money fast is to go to the Fur Stall in East Ardougne and steal gray wolf fur until you get up to about 100 furs and then go to Varrock and sell them to the fur trader in the middle of the city. At first he'll give you 150 gp for each, and after alot of selling he'll go down to 120 each, which is still a LOT. This will give you about 12K in less than an hour! (You must have at least lvl 34 thieving to steal from fur stalls).
Gonger65 - chop lots and lots of maples till you get at least 1k and the nsell them for 100k. That is how i earn my money fast, and theres good exp. in it too. The average amount of maples i would get per day is probably 500 but i 65 woodcutting so best of luck in earninig your heavy duty cash

Go to Falador furnace and smith, go to Dorics anvil and make shields. Finally, go to shield shop near Falador north entrance and sell the shields. Optionally, you can go to either of the banks and sell the shields.(you can also bank everything, but it takes longer because you have to constantly return to bank.)
TowerJack - If you would like to make lots of money on top of raising smithing and mining lvls mine 2k coal, 1k iron, and make 1k steel bars. You can now sell these steel bars for 500 gp each which comes out to a whopping 500,000 gps. or you can buy the coal for 150 each, which comes out to 300k and still make 200k plus the experience from smithing it.

Keep mining essence until you have 16,200 in bank, then turn them into fir runes in al kharid dessert. Go to Varrock's runeshop and keep on selling 10 at a time for 6gp. when done you should have 97,200gp.(spend wisely) you can repeat process to get even more, but don't sell to much in one rune shop. Try going to sarams port and selling some there, then try other worlds.

Robwillemsen - Dont thrust people in the coblin camp when u need to follow them to the chaos temple. They will ask you to drink from the wine and increase your combat skills. what happens: you will lose a lot of ur combat skills, the door closes and all the monks start attacking you(especially dangerous for beginners, i lost a blackfull longsword there)

Obyenba - Watch out for "Kill me" scam in low-level wilderness areas. If someone of a similar level asks to be killed because they "Want to get to Lumby"....don't do it! They want you to get the skull over your head (so you'll lose ALL items) and then they'll hit you with a surprise attack that can kill you quick. I've seen this trick a couple times in the Edgeville dungeon while collecting herbs....

I was hacked, I gave my pass to this guy and I lost the file alltogether. and my bro almost lost his file from the same thing. Hopefully by telling you about how I spent my 6,5 years playing this game I can give you a better insight in how things used to be and how they changed. Also showing you how it all happened for me, off course I realize that everyone will have a completely different story to tell and everyone plays Runescape in their own way. If it sounds like a bragging story sometimes this isn’t my intention at all. I am afraid that it will be pretty self centered because I don’t remember a whole lot about years ago only what I was doing at that time. But I hope you will enjoy reading what I’ve been up to the last 6,5 years.

2001

I started playing Runescape classic (on a really bad computer with a dial-up connection) when I was 14 years old and just entered high school, this was right around the time Christmas crackers were dropped (December 2001). I had no clue what was happening that day and some guy gave me 2 partyhats, which I dropped after a while because they took bank space. My classmates introduced me to this game and about everyone in my class started playing. It was all just fun and new for me, I had never played a MMORPG before and was only used to games like red alert. I started doing some quests with my classmates and got addicted pretty fast. And after my mom saw the phone bill for that month she wasn’t very happy. Luckily we got cable pretty fast.

2002

I was still very noobish, because all I did was a few quests and training a bit on cows, I figured I needed to get myself some money. The Runescape world was still very small back then and members or f2p didn’t exist yet. So I spent a few days picking up bronze scimitar’s in Rimmington (the house with the bronze pickaxe), and sold them to the general store on the other side of the road for a few GP. After a while I could finally afford my black long sword from the sword shop I had seen in Varrock, sadly I died in a cave when I started training with it and lost it pretty fast after. Luckily one of my classmates that had been playing for a while longer could give me a Mithril (which I used to think was rune) one very easy. Once I had my mithril armor I spent most of my days getting my combat up and doing quests, it didn’t take me to long to do all quests besides dragon slayer. Which had the reputation of being a hard quest (this is a time way before there were any rune smithers). After training up till about level 80 I finally took the courage to do dragon slayer and finished it pretty easily.

After I was done with all the random stuff I started working on two skills in particular, woodcutting and Firemaking . You would mostly train woodcutting and Firemaking at the same time since you took a full inventory to a forest (Draynor forest) and you would automatically drop the logs you cut, u just used your tinderbox on the logs that fell on the ground (you couldn’t burn any logs besides normal logs). The only other way to train it was with someone else dropping lines of normal logs and you walking after them lighting the logs. I was finally done with Firemaking somewhere December 2002 and was 3rd to get 99 Firemaking and 7th to 99 woodcutting a little later.

2003

After this I started PK’ing a lot with 2 friends that lived in the same street as me. We starting making tactics like luring in the lower wilderness around the castle above Edgeville by having one of us pick up runes without armor to lure people in attacking him. When It had worked one would close all doors in the castle and the other logged in next to the one fake collecting runes. As far as I know hardly anyone PKed in the higher level wilderness at that time and the person with the highest combat level was far from maxing out since combat training was only about 30k an hour max. At this time I created a pure and trained him to like 60 att, def and like 80 str. But we got bored with the PK’ing after a few months and I decided to go back to my main and train his combat up some more.

This is a time I remember pretty well because I spent days and night in that one area never having to leave since the spiders I trained on didn’t hit that hard. I think it was about 25-30k an hour training on the spiders in Underground Passage. I remember there was a really ugly spider called Balrog in there that was just a tiny level 3 spider with increased size. I also was in this cave when Scythe’s were dropped (not sure where I was when bunny ears were dropped, but I have those as well). After getting my combat up to about 100 (pretty high for that time, halfway 2003). I spent a lot of time training agility at the wilderness course and got it up to about 82 (pretty high for that time).

After I got enough of agility (August 2003) I set my eyes on a new goal, rank 1 Firemaking. I quit Firemaking right at 99 and I am not quite sure what XP the rank 1 (jamie2002) had when I started going for rank 1 but I remember him being ahead about 10mil XP. But when I started Firemaking so did he and this turned out to become a long battle lasting several months, I finally overtook him around December 2003 (A year after I got 99). We had around 38-40m XP back then and the discussion about RS2 and the BETA were starting up. While I was still trying to get further ahead of Jamie I heard “dropfishing” was removed and bought a ton of feathers and started “dropfishing” right away, I got it to about 93 in a really short time (was about 120k/hour).

2004

Runescape 2 was launched and I had to change my way of Firemaking, not sure what was the best way yet I started cutting willows in Draynor and burning them when my inventory was full. I did this till about 60m experience and if I remember correct I was first to get 60m XP in a skill. But when I thought I was far enough ahead I stopped doing Firemaking and started doing some random skills, not really focusing on something. I remember woodcutting and fletching a lot though. But I wasn’t doing the fasted methods back then (I think I cut inventory’s of maple and fletched them to unstrung bows.

2005

I was doing all quests when they came out and making guides for some as well, then when slayer was released I spent a while doing that and making the guide for it. But after that was done I got bored with Runescape and quit for a little while until I heard about farming coming out and you could get seeds already by thieving the master farmer, so I spent a few weeks thieving the master farmer in Draynor. When farming came out I jumped right in it and made the farming guide and got to rank 7 farming, but when I ran out of good seeds I quit again.

2006

In my quitting period which lasted for a few months I did check hiscores every now and then and when I saw “Leronea” getting closer and heard “Xxx Neo Xxx7” was after my rank I decided to sell my blue partyhat for 200 mil GP and I bought enough yew logs for 200Mil Firemaking XP (I had 60m XP at this time). From December 2005 till end May 2006 I spent doing about 1m Firemaking every day. When I was finally done with this construction had come out (may 18th) and I decided to start doing that by cutting oak logs outside my house portal in Rimmington and let the butler plank them then build oak dining tables. I did this till I was 87 construction.

Then I decided to get 99 thieving on knights in Ardougne which was about 100k XP an hour (Pyramid Plunder wasn’t out yet). And when I finally got it I heard about Pest Control being really fast combat experience and since I had been 108 combat for ages I thought it was time to get this up. With about 120k XP an hour it turned about to be really easy to max my combat stats (I did a lot of Pest Control each day, because there were a lot of rumors about it getting nerved soon and huge complaints on the forums about it). I think I ended up with about 123/124 combat and maxed out range (planned on doing magic later by alching the bodies from crafting).

After selling my blue partyhat for 200m Firemaking XP and losing my red partyhat because of my own stupidity, I still had a lot of them left and they were worth huge amounts at that time so I decided to sell one for 99 Prayer and 99 Smithing. I made a alter in my house and got 99 prayer in a few days, after that I bought enough bars for 99 Smithing and got that a few weeks later. After this I spent ages trying to get 99 fishing on monkfish, I didn’t play a lot at that time and the experience was really slow but I managed to get it 99 mid September 2006.

After this I decided to downgrade one of my partyhats (I am not sure which color because this were all one day decisions) to buy 99 crafting and I bought a lot of blue leathers and crafted them to bodies and got 99 crafting mid October, I was planning on alching the bodies but decided that was stupid and sold the bodies and went back to Pest Control and got 99 Magic in a few days (I got 99 Crafting and Magic on the same day because I waited a little with the last few XP from Crafting so I could get them together). After this I quit till January 2007.

2007

I was slowly picking back up in January by doing a few skills at the same time Farming, Herblore, Hunter and Agility. I had to work and learn at a company for school but since there wasn’t a lot of work to do I did a lot of Agility and Hunter there. But slowly I got more addicted again and was doing a few hours of agility every day and combining that with doing 2 farm runs every day, 10 Magic trees, 4 Palm trees and 1 Calquat (Since Partyhats were still pretty high at this time I sold one of my party hats and bought enough seeds for 99 farming at once, which was I think about 200m in total) every day for a pretty long period. A Month after starting again I got 99 Agility on 4 February, I started with 94.

Right after my Agility was finished I jumped to Hunter which was 91 and I was still doing Farm rounds daily, my level was about 93 when I started Hunter. It took me about 2 weeks to get 91-99 Hunter, not sure how much I did every day but I was playing quite a lot again. After this I bought enough oak planks for 99 Construction and did Oak dungeon doors for a week and a half and got 99 Construction late February. Having done Farming rounds for the entire period of hunter and construction I got Farming from 93 to 97.

With march starting I was getting pretty bored with Runescape and my Work/Learn project for school was almost over, but I wanted to finish Farming so I decided to do a bit of mining while waiting for my trees to grow I got 90 to 93 mining and 98 + 99 Farming. After my Farming party on 10 March I quit again till mid May.

After taking a nice 2 month brake I wasn’t quite sure what to do yet, but I wanted to get Herblore 99 for a while now. I was planning on paying for this with Runecrafting so I sold a low party hat and bought enough pure essence for level 99 Runecrafting. Starting out with 82 Runecrafting I still had a very long way to go, I wanted to start off with fast free laws W66 till 91 (Double Nats). But when I finally reached 91 Runecrafting mid June I realized there was a double nat crafting company which was a lot faster than running yourself.

So I sold all my pure essence and decided to buy 90 to 99 Herblore before getting 99 Runecrafting, but I wanted to get this real fast so I no-lived Herblore for a week. First off course I had to buy the supplies, I decided to do Saradomin brews and bought a lot of watered vials a whole lot of toadflax and crushed nests. This was well before GE so a lot of spamming on the Runescape forums and buying in small amounts. I Reached 99 Herblore about a week after I started and was ready to do the last bit of Runecrafting. Since it was vacation I nolifed badly and managed to get 91 – 97 Runecrafting (in just a little over 2 week) before I went on Vacation for a month on 10 July.

After my vacation I was still going to the beach and such so I didn’t have a lot of time for Runescape but in august I managed to get 98 and 99 Runecrafting. After this I was planning on getting 99 Mining but after just one level I decided it was not worth wasting my life like this so I quit for well over 3 months and didn’t get any levels in September, October or November. In December I heard about Summoning coming and I wanted to start playing again and because I had a few weeks off I decided to start again and this time I really wanted to get mining over with and got 99 Mining on 29 December.

2008

January 2008 I had just finished my Mining and Summoning was coming soon and since I was really low slayer (75) and all other skills were maxed out there wasn’t much to do then the skill I had hated like forever because it was really slow and I didn’t really like training combat skills since I was maxed. So till Summoning came out I did the easy slayer levels and when Summoning came on 15 January I had 82 Slayer. But very soon I realized that Slayer and Summoning were pretty easy to combine and I was pretty happy.

So with Summoning out there was new interest for me in doing Slayer, doing research on which tasks were the best for which charms and collecting loads of charms kept me interested. As well as the news of the second batch of monsters coming. When that finally came 31 March I was already 95 Slayer and trying very hard to sell my Yellow Partyhat. When I finally managed to sell that I was trying to buy a lot of Seconds in GE, but so was everyone else so that didn’t go to fast. When I had a few Summoning levels banked I got them and reached 91 Summoning on 20th of April. Still doing slayer mostly I got 98 Slayer on 26 April.

I didn’t do that much slayer in April and wanted to max as fast as possible and finally be done with this game, so I got 98 to 99 Slayer in 9 days on 4 May. With the charms from my last Slayer levels I was able to get 93 Summoning. After this I went to Waterbirth island to barrage Rock Lobsters for my last charms and got 99 Summoning on 13th may. I am currently doing a bit of Fletching, Cooking and I might do some thieving later on but I am not sure what the future brings for me. I am not really feeling like putting much effort into getting a few ranks. Wasting this much time on a game is kind of sad but playing even more while done, I am not sure.

Any player, regardless of how little money they have, should, at a minimum, always be using normal Strength and Super Attack potions while training any combat related skill (I will skip the making of potions, as I assume you already know how, you should be making all of the potions you use though). Super attack potions are actually cheaper than normal attack potions, so there is no reason to go with normal ones unless you are really broke, then attack mixes are the cheapest thing on the market. This goes for free players as well, in the case of strength potions, they are cheap and well worth it. This is the first of a 3 part series on the effective use of potions to decrease your training time by increasing your stats.

Super Attack Potions - What they do and why you should use them.

These increase your attack by 20% for a 5-19 level increase. For example if you has an attack level of 80, one sip from a Super Attack would boost your attack level to 96. Not bad for 80 gold pieces, especially when you compare it to a slayer mask that only gives a 15% increase but costs nearly a mil. You could buy 12,300 Super Attack doses for the cost of that one mask, but since the bonuses stack, you really should use both while training slayer for a whopping 35% increase in attack.

Strength Potions - Drink this for Strength

Strength potions, or str pots, increase your strength by 12.5% for a 3-12 level increase. A sip of this boosts a strength of 80 to 90. This is especially useful in F2P, where str increases are few and far between. Increased str makes you to hit for higher damage, causing: faster kills, more XP per hour, and increased drop rate per hour (the more you kill the more drops you get).

Barbarian Mixes - Eat your pots

These are one of the greatest underutilized parts of the game. Cost wise they are pretty bad to make from scratch, but they are great to make if you already have the potions, especially if you are fighting monsters that occasionally hit you and do damage. To make a mix, you need a 2 dose potion and roe. You can decant 2-2dose potions using a 4 dose potion on an empty vial. adding the roe to either an attack or strength potion gives you attack mix(2) or strength mix(2) respectively, and turns the potion into food that heals 6 hp (3hp per dose). Roe is easy enoug to fish near the barbarian outpost, they even have a drop box 1 click away at the Barbarian Assault mini game, it is also very cheap, at only 35gp on the GE, so it is well worth buying, unless you want some fishing XP.

In Conclusion…

runescape gold for cashEven if you are only killing a monster that just drops bones, it is worth it to use potions. Bones sell for 90gp. Super Attack and Str mixes sell for 80gp and 100 per dose, and easily last more than 2 kills. I am not recommending you stop training to bank normal bones by any means, but I wanted to illustrate how cheap it is to use potions for training. Some more examples are:

- 1 dose of each gives higher bonuses than an Amulet of Fury. Cost:3.2mil vs 180gp
- At lvl 99 str the bonus is 300% better than bandos chest str bonus costing about 15.1mil less
- At str level of 32 the bonus from a str pot is eqivalent to the bonus from a berserker ring for 1/36000 the price.

Today I will focus on some of the lesser known aspects of potting for training. In the first section, I talked about the potions you should be using, and can probably make yourself. Here I will go over some of the ones that you might need help with.

Magic Potions – Drink Me!

Should you use these while training mage? Absolutely (well, unless you are casting high alch over and over again…). At today’s cost of 235gp a sip, these are a bargain as well. They increase your mage by +4, significantly increasing not only the chances that you will hit more often, but also that you will do more damage.

I know that some readers are thinking, hmmm, “My inventory slots are more important than having a potion.” I agree to an extent, but you have to be aware that a potion’s effects don’t wear off instantly. I wouldn’t carry one along to a blue dragon task, but I would sure have a sip every time I banked hides and bones. The stat bonus carries me through the entire time.

Can’t make magic potions? I don’t know any high level herblorist who would turn down free herblore XP. I certainly wouldn’t. Today Lants are 1,163 and potato cactus is 965. That is 2128 per potion or 709gp per dose. Is it worth it for a +4 mage bonus? I think so.

The non-combat uses are also worth mentioning here. At level 70, I trained using teleother to Lumbridge with magic potions. On a crowded server, people beg to be teleported, and it is some of the fastest magic XP in the game. (at 71, you should switch from magic pots to Wizard Mind Bombs though).

Ranging Potions – Shoot this!

With Pking gone, these have lost the majority of their value, but are still very worthwhile potions. Today they are 431 a dose. Range potions give a 4-13 (10%+3) level boost. At 60 range that will boost you up to nearly 70. Starting with 70 range will get you up to 80. This is a pretty hefty increase, and will significantly decrease your kill times, saving you arrows (darts, knives, cballs, charges), time, and increasing the rate at which you level up.

In conclusion…

It really is worth it to use what ever stat increasing items and tools you can while training. With the potion market being what it is, they are well worth the investment. With both range and magic potions, it is more expensive to buy the ingredients and get assisted, but still not unreasonable, especially if you happen to have a few lants and dwarf weeds sitting in the bank. The seconds for both are about 1k each, and many people will assist you. Just call it out in the GE, and you should get offers.

The Runescape Monkey Greegree is a staff that players can make. It is used mainly during the Monkey Madness quest. When you wield one of these magic staffs on Ape Atoll, you will turn into a monkey and thus be safe from the monsters on Ape Atoll. To make one of these magical staffs you need to gather some monkey bones and a Monkey Talisman, and take them to Zooknock. Remember, if you are using the Monkey Greegree for the Monkey Madness quest, your bones need to be from Karamja. Otherwise you can use the bones of the monkeys that live on Ape Atoll.

The Monkey Greegree is used in the third chapter of the Monkey Madness quest. I will go ahead and tell you what to do in this part of the quest.

You will not need food, potions, or teleportation runes for this chapter, but you might want an Ardougne teleport to make it easier on you.

Go to Ape atoll and wield the Monkey Greegree Staff. Go northwest and pass through the gate. Go as far east as you can and talk to Garkor. Then talk to an Elder Gaurd somewhere outside the king's palace, he will tell you to go to Kruk. Now go as far west as you can go, then south when you reach the shore. Walk up the cliff, up the ladder, along the bridge and down the ladder on the other side. Talk to Kruk, he will take you to King Awowogei. Talk to him; ask for an alliance and he will tell you to rescue a monkey from the Ardougne Zoo. So head on over to Ardougne, to the zoo, wield the Greegree. Speak to the Monkey Minder and he will place you in the cage. Speak to a monkey and take it into your inventory. Now un-equip the Greegree and talk to the Monkey Minder. He will let you out and WALK or RUN to the Grand Tree, do not teleport anywhere, because it will make the monkey leave the inventory. Then of course talk to the King and finish the alliance. Now wield the Greegree, and head on over to Ape Atoll again. Speak to the guard, ask for an alliance with the King, Talk to the king, and ask for an alliance, he will consider it. Exit his chamber.

When you are wielding the Runescape Monkey Greegree, you will loose your spellbook tab. You can be more than one monkey, according to the Monkey Greegree you have. Once you have your quest done, you can kill most of the monkeys and get their bones to make a Monkey Greegree and be able to change into them. There are 7 Monkey Greegrees in all - 2 Zombie Greegrees, 2 Gorilla Greegrees, 2 Ninja greegrees, and one Karamja Monkey Greegree.

The monkey you see above is a Monkey Guard without a beard, and you can make a Gorilla Greegree, which will turn you into it. You have to kill one (level 167) and take its bones along with a Monkey Talisman to Zooknock. You can buy the Monkey Talismans from Tutab the Rune Seller on Ape Atoll or you can get one for free from the Monkey Boy. They are about 1000 coins in the shops.

The Monkey Greegree is also needed in the Recipe for Disaster quest. I will not list this quest. Because it is one of the longest quests in Runescape, and we already have a guide for this quest.
